Excellent job!  You've completed 2 steps!  One final step to go!

Take Action! This is the 3rd step in the Save Our Services campaign.

What qualifies as "Taking Action?"

“Taking Action” can consist of an in-person meeting, a phone conversation, an email, a fax or a letter between a constituent and his or her elected representative.  Participants in the Save Our Services campaign are encouraged to contact their elected representatives multiple times, including at least one in-person meeting.

Email/Fax: This site gives you all the tools at your fingertips to email and fax your representatives directly or to send a letter to the editor of a local paper.

Call or Meet: Find step-by-step guidelines that will help you plan for and have effective meetings, by phone or in person, with your elected representatives.

The tools to the right will help you get started.

Initially, Save Our Services asks residents and businesses to simply:

  • build relationships with their elected representatives and City staff and
  • share with them why our City services are critical to our community. Elected representatives and their staffs must know that they have constituents who care about the San José budget and its impacts on our neighborhoods.

Beyond that, while we will want our representatives to change flawed policies and pieces of legislation, we want them to support a positive and hopeful future for San José by adopting budget policies that will correct the structural budget deficit once and for all!

Our goal is to fully engage the community, neighborhood-by-neighborhood and business-by-business, in the public policy process.

If everyone does their small part, then, together, we will change politics as usual and restore our faith in City Hall!
